Over de voorstelling
GAMMEL vertelt het verhaal van een oude man die zich overbodig voelt. Totdat een mysterieus kind zijn leven binnenwandelt. Het is een muzikale en beeldende voorstelling met poppen en maskerspel, waarin de kracht van onverwachte vriendschap en het gevoel van ‘nodig zijn’ centraal staat.
‘Met GAMMEL willen we laten zien dat iedereen ertoe doet, ongeacht leeftijd’, zegt regisseur en artistiek leider Noufri Bachdim. ‘Het gaat over de troost van verbinding en de vreugde die ontstaat als je je groove weer terugvindt.'
Voor GAMMEL werd onderzoek gedaan in verschillende (Almeerse) verzorgingshuizen, waar kinderen en ouderen samenkwamen.
“In Gammel maken ze theater waarin mime, maskers en muziek een smaakvolle vertelling oplevert waarin veel gebeurt. De muziek is jazzy, compleet met aanstekelijk scatten -woordeloos zingen- wat de acteurs wonderlijk mooi doen. De oude man beziet zijn leven als het ware opnieuw en lijkt in zijn nieuwe bestaan erg op te bloeien. Daarmee is de voorstelling ook een ode aan ouderen en een oproep tot respect. Dat raakt me wel. Het voltallige publiek met vooral veel kinderen vanaf een jaar of vier blijft een uur lang geconcentreerd kijken. Wat prachtig.” -Scenes.nu

SHAKY tells the story of an old man who feels redundant. Until one day a mysterious child walks into his life. This is a musical, visual production with puppets and masks in which the power of unexpected friendship and the feeling of ‘being needed’ are central.
“With SHAKY, we want to show that everyone matters, irrespective of age”, director and artistic director Noufri Bachdim has said. “It’s all about the comfort of connection and the joy that arises when you get your groove back.”
For SHAKY, the company carried out research in various care homes (in Almere), where children come into contact with older people.
“In Shaky, they make theatre in which mime, masks and music combine to create a tasteful, eventful narrative. The music is jazzy, complete with infectious scat vocals – signing without words – which the actors carry off beautifully. The old man gets a whole new perspective on his life and seems to truly flourish in his new existence. This means the show is also an ode to the elderly and a call for respect. This touches me. Over de makers
Net als eerdere producties maakt Studio Figur ook met GAMMEL ingewikkelde thematiek op een toegankelijke manier bespreekbaar voor een jong publiek én hun families.
In 2025 won Studio Figur een Zilveren Krekel voor de voorstelling Toen Mijn Vader De Nacht In Vloog. De jury van de VSCD Jeugdtheaterprijzen prees de verbeeldingskracht en lef van de makers:
“De fantasierijke wereld van deze voorstelling wordt tot leven gewekt door de bijzonder vindingrijke vormgeving. De keuze om die werkelijkheid niet uit de weg te gaan, toont hoe zorgvuldig en doordacht de vormgeving is opgebouwd: een landschap waarin kinderlijke fantasie en realiteit op indringende wijze met elkaar in gesprek gaan.”

As in their previous productions, in SHAKY Studio Figur tackle complex themes in an accessible way, opening these up for discussion by young audiences and their families.
In 2025, Studio Figur won a Zilveren Krekel for the production Toen Mijn Vader De Nacht In Vloog. The jury of the VSCD Youth Theatre Awards praised the power of the makers’ imagination, and their courage:
“The highly imaginative world of this production is brought to life by its exceptionally inventive design. The decision not to sidestep this reality shows how painstakingly created and well-thought-out the design is: a landscape where childlike imagination and reality enter into a conversation in an incisive way.”
